Life threatening situation? Always call 112

VIM Committee

by Harmke Breimer

The VIM Committee would like to draw attention to the following. We are very pleased that more and more is being reported. These are very serious matters in which patient safety is at stake. By thoroughly investigating the reports, we are all working to improve patient safety.

Since last year, the reporter and those involved have been involved in the investigation. Recently, the VIM Committee has noticed that the reporter does not always inform those involved of a report. When the VIM committee contacts them, these colleagues and GPs are shocked, and they also feel ‘taken by surprise’. This unnecessarily evokes a feeling of insecurity and agitation. While what we want is safe reporting.

The urgent request of the VIM Committee is to always inform those involved of a report. If this is not possible for one reason or another, please mention this on the form so that we can take this into account.
