First point of contact
Your GP is your first point of contact in case of health complaints. Your GP can be reached during office hours. You can make an appointment at the practice, If necessary, the GP will also make (urgent) visits at home.
When should you call your GP?
- If you have any questions about your health.
- If you have complaints of a physical or psychological nature.

When do you call the GP emergency station?
- The GP emergency post (HAP) is only there for emergencies.
- When you have a health complaint that cannot wait until your own GP or substitute is available.
- For emergency care that is needed in the evening, at night or on weekends.
- Sometimes the HAP will refer you to the emergency department. A visit to the emergency room is at your own risk.

Life-threatening situation
The national emergency number is there for emergency care where every second counts. The ambulance is available 24 hours a day.
You call the ambulance if there is:
- Severe shortness of breath or unconsciousness.
- Chest pain.
- Sudden paralysis, speech impediment, and/or a crooked mouth.
- Heavy bleeding.
