WID Check in general practice
When registering a new patient, the healthcare provider is obliged to provide (one-off) proof of the identity of the patient on the basis of a Legal Identification Document (WID). With a WID you can think of things like a passport, Dutch identity card, Dutch driver’s license or a Dutch alien’s document. The control of the WID, must be correctly recorded in the healthcare information system. In the manual of your healthcare information system you will find step-by-step how to perform the WID check in the system. Can’t figure this out? Please contact your supplier or with us. If the WID check is not correct, the patient’s consent to you will not be recorded in the reference index of the LSP. As a result, the file of the the patient is not available, for example for the out-of-hours GP service.
Tip: if you want to check if all consents of your patients are actually correct with the LSP logged in, then run a query in your information system on ‘Opt-in – no WID’. Then you will get an overview of patients who have been rechecked by the WID must be carried out. Also consult the manual of your healthcare information system.

“It happens Not often, but it’s about the one time when things could go wrong otherwise.” Mr. Nijessen (general practice Lupine) endorses the importance of medication control in general practice. It has happened in the past that medication was not properly coordinated, because the prescribed medication in the hospital was not known to the GP. As a result, that a patient, due to an incorrect combination of medications, goes to the hospital. This can be prevented by using the medication data via the LSP.
