Life threatening situation? Always call 112

SMS function in Vcare

by Thomas Knol – medical manager

An SMS function has recently been activated in Vcare (the phone application). There are two reasons for this. The first concerns receiving a call for abnormal results from the laboratory. It often happens that someone is not reachable by phone. For example, because they do not answer calls from unknown senders. In that case, the doctor’s assistant or triage nurse can send an SMS to the patient with the request to answer the phone or to contact the out-of-hours GP service themselves.

The second reason concerns an adjustment in the working method in the event of a patient not showing up (no-show) at the appointment. This creates uncertainty within the team, because there can occasionally be a serious reason for it. A work instruction has been drawn up on how to act in this situation. Click HERE for the work instruction (can also be found in Qlink)

Initially, someone is called in case of no-show. If the phone is not answered, an SMS will be sent with the request to answer the phone or to contact the out-of-hours GP service yourself.

The work instruction describes the course of action if there is still no response from the patient. It also contains a piece about the responsibilities of the out-of-hours GP service in the event of a no-show. Click HERE  for the manual on how to send SMS
