Harmonization of inventory of visiting cars

In close consultation with the medical managers of De LIMES and the Quality Committee, the inventory of the visiting cars for all De LIMES locations was recently checked by authors. Adjustments have been made in accordance with the NHG guidelines and the Quality Framework for the Emergency Care Chain. Click HERE for the guidelines.

Furthermore, this adjustment arose from the desire to harmonize the content at all three locations of De LIMES in connection with acting general practitioners and drivers who can work on all cars on behalf of Meditaxi. There was also the need to take a good look at the limited space available in suitcases and cars. This means that we have eliminated medication and equipment that was hardly used. As touched upon elsewhere, we have made tranexamic acid available on the car (and HAP) to treat nosebleeds.

Furthermore, we would like to take the opportunity to indicate how patients can receive medication at home during visits:

  1. handed over by the GP, so immediately administer from a suitcase (order back IMM)  
  2. Have it delivered via taxi service from service pharmacy
  3. to be picked up at the service pharmacy (Voorhout) by the caregiver.

Anecdotally, drivers report that they return to a patient after a previous visit, and that the previously agreed medications have not been picked up by the patient/caregiver. So pay attention to whether the agreed policy can be properly followed!

I would also like to pay attention to pharmacovigilance; when in doubt and certainly when prescribing antibiotics, this should be checked, either by yourself in Topicus (also think of using a laptop) or by telephone with the pharmacist (assistant). 

Finally, in order to be better prepared for (fortunately very rare) medical emergencies, we decided to place disposable ambu balloons including children’s attachments on the car and HAP. This is in response to a number of incidents and requests from the organization. Of course, if you feel competent to apply this, we will make an effort to include this in a CPR training in due course.
